The new Vice TV series “Chasing Strains” follows former NFL lineman Kyle Turley as he navigates the medicinal cannabis system to find relief from years of playing football at its highest level. Turley suffered multiple concussions in his football career, which began to drastically affect his metal health, even causing him to develop suicidal and homicidal thoughts. Prescribed medications did little to help, but cannabis did. Ever since Turley discovered the healing power of cannabis, he has been an outspoken advocate for using cannabis as a treatment for CTE and other concussion-related injuries.
Chasing Strains: Medical Marijuana in Sports (Part 2)
Part 2 of “Chasing Strains” explores the NFL’s policy on medicinal cannabis. Turley speaks with former players who have benefited from using cannabis. The episode also includes comments from our Chief Science Officer, Kevin McKernan, who challenges the NFL Commissioner’s assertion that there is no science backing the claim that cannabis is a viable treatment for neurological trauma.
Medicinal Genomics is proud to contribute to Turley’s efforts to bring greater awareness to the medical value of cannabis for former athletes.
